Is there anything more fun than buying Christmas gifts for your kids?

For Christmas, I like to gift them with a combination of:

-things from their wish lists

-experiences

-art supplies & books

-clothing & shoes

-outdoors

-surprises

Jamie is turning 8 this December, so he's very much in between little kid and big kid gifts. This year, he's super into NFL football, specifically the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen, Lego sets, video games like Fortnite, Minecraft, and Mario. He also really loves being active, outdoors, reading, and making art.

Wish List

His Wish list was STACKED this year with mainly expensive items. As he gets older, I've noticed the items become more expensive, so he has less presents to open - which is hard because he's still so young and wants lots to open, but also wants to get the specific things he asks for. I find at this age, it's better to do a few wish list picks mixed with surprises so he has several to open and isn't disappointed either way on Christmas morning. It's a good balance. His main requests were big Mario, Donkey Kong, and Fortnite Lego sets, a Josh Allen jersey, and a new controller for his switch - so we tried to make sure some of those were granted.

We actually ordered his locally from a small business in our town, but since they don't have a website, I linked one above.

Surprises

Surprises are my favorite part of gift giving. It's not as fun as you might think to get only everything you ask for. Some of my favorite gifts growing up were the ones I didn't ask for or even know I wanted. Jamie is super into board and card games right now, as well as video games. This Mario Guess Who is going to be so fun to play all together.

This was the BEST purchase of 2023. We loved it so much, we even bought another set after Christmas. They come out at every sleepover, birthday party, and random weeknight at home. I will forever suggest these because they are SO MUCH FUN. We've gotten tons of use out of them. Worth every penny.

Outdoors

Dude outgrew his bike this summer and likes to ride around town with his friends. This is the perfect outdoor present for him this year.

Clothing & Shoes

If your kids are anything like mine, all they want to wear are crocs. Everyday, for every occasion. It's not a battle I'm willing to fight, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Lined crocs are a good compromise for winter.

Art Supplies & Books

Jamie is many things, but he is most certainly a reader. He loves a good chapter book and right now is really enjoying The Magic Treehouse series.

Experiences

Some ideas we have are indoor waterpark, movies, trampoline park, or even an NFL game!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today & Merry Christmas!

Xo, Maurah
